Skip Bin Sizes

If you need to hire a skip bin for residential or industrial rubbish removal, you need the right size. There’s no reason to pay too much for space you don’t need. But you don’t want to get stuck with extra rubbish either! Matt’s Skip Hire offers a huge range of bins – big and small.

Our size chart shows the exact dimensions of every skip bin we offer. We start with mini skips, perfect for a spring clean, moving house or tree pruning. Our largest sizes fit larger scale demolitions, deceased estates and large quantity tree removal. If you are a landscaper, builder or roofer, these sizes are highly recommended and would suit your type of job.

Most of our bins are available with doors. Please note, our Dirt & Clay, Bricks & Concrete and Mixed Building Waste have no weight limits. The weight limit for our General Waste and Green Waste bins are 180kgs per cubic metre.

You can check out our easy guide to different waste types, or contact us for expert and straight-forward advice. Once you’ve chosen your perfect skip size, book your bin online. We offer easy delivery and pick-up throughout Western Sydney, Penrith and most of the Sydney metro area.

Which Skip Bin Size is Right For Me?

When it comes to choosing your bin size, there are a few things you’ll need to consider to find the right size for you. You should consider the waste type you’ll need, the amount of waste to dispose of and the size of the materials.

To ensure you get the right size skip, you should organise what you are throwing away BEFORE you order your bin. This way, you’ll have a good idea of the amount of waste you have and whether you need a bigger or smaller skip. It is common for people to underestimate the size they need, so this will help ensure your size is suitable. For those who can’t organise the waste beforehand, we do recommend looking at what you’ll be throwing away. This will give you a general idea of the skip size you’ll need. It can also help us narrow down sizes if you give us a call for assistance.

Choosing the right size skip bin

Finally, you will want to keep in mind where your skip will be located. The location will also impact the bin as you may not have space for our largest size. That is why we recommend you establish where you will place your skip bin before you order one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What do I do if I need to get a bigger bin size midway?

If you realise you need a bigger bin size midway through, we recommend you continue filling up your current bin to the recommended capacity then order a second bin for the rest of the waste.

How do I know how much each skip bin can hold?

You can easily identify how much each skip bin can hold by checking out the measurements in the estimator table. Here you will find the length, width and height, giving you a good idea of each bin’s size. If you would like further information on how much each skip holds, just give our friendly staff a call and they can let you know how many wheelie bins worth of waste can go into the one you are interested in.

How do I decide the best skip bin size for me?

In order to help you decide on the best skip size, we have put as much detail as possible on all skip sizes from the measurements to the recommended situations it is perfect for. Furthermore, we also have an estimator table that compares the measurements of all skip sizes. If you need further help finding the right size, you can read our blog on which bin size would be best for you. Or you can give our friendly staff a call on 02 4708 2927.

If a skip bin doesn't have a door, how do I get heavy objects in?

Whereas most of our skip bin sizes come with a door for easy access, our 2 cubic metre skip bins are the only ones that don’t come with a door due to their smaller size. If you are looking to get a heavy object, such as a washing machine, into the skip, we recommend getting someone else to help you put it in. If you need to put dirt or other heavy materials in, you can alternatively create a makeshift ramp (from bricks and timber, etc.) for your wheelbarrow if you cannot get assistance.

What size would be best for a house clean up?

If you are cleaning up your house, we have a few skip bins that would be perfect for you depending on your circumstances. If you are just doing a small spring clean, our 2 cubic metre skip bins would be ideal. If you are moving to a new house and need to do a thorough cleaning, then our 6 cubic metre skip bin would certainly fit your situation. To get the best match for you, our staff would love to help! Simply give us a call on 02 4708 2927.

What skip size would you recommend for a worksite?

When it comes to worksites, depending on your situation, we have plenty of skip sizes available. For a large-scale worksite, our 9 cubic metre and 10 cubic metre skip bins would suit this situation best. For smaller sites, an 8 cubic metre skip would fit the job smoothly! If you are still unsure about which size you should get, just give us a call on 02 4708 2927 and we can help you select the right skip for your worksite.
