Matt’s Skip Bins has grown a long way from where it started. But the values behind the business, honest pricing, friendly service and a genuine commitment to keeping waste out of landfill, haven’t changed since day one.

How It Started
Matt founded Matt’s Skip Bins in 2010 with one truck and 11 skip bins to his name.
He’d built up experience in transport before going out on his own, and he had a clear idea of the kind of business he wanted to run. Friendly. Honest. Affordable. No shortcuts and no excuses.
That meant long days, tight budgets and doing a fair share of the work himself in the early years. Matt put in the hours needed to build a reputation, one job at a time, one happy customer at a time. It wasn’t glamorous, but it worked.
Growing The Fleet
As word spread and demand grew, so did the business. More trucks joined the fleet. The bin collection expanded to cover a full range of sizes, so customers weren’t stuck paying for more bin than they needed or squeezing waste into one that was too small.
One of the biggest steps in that growth was acquiring fellow skip bin company Anyfil and bringing it under the Matt’s Skip Bins banner. The merger meant a second yard to operate from and a much larger collection of bins to draw on, and it let the business take on more jobs across a wider area without dropping the personal service that had built its name in the first place.
Building A Team
A business built on one truck doesn’t stay a one person operation for long. Matt’s Skip Bins grew into a proper team, with drivers, office staff and support crew all playing a part in getting bins delivered and collected on time, every time.
That growth also brought recognition closer to home. The team picked up nominations in the services and trades category at the Penrith Local Business Awards, a nod from the local community the business has always been proud of.
Moving With The Industry
The way people book a skip has changed a lot since 2010. What used to mean picking up the phone can now be done online in a couple of minutes, any time of day. Matt’s Skip Bins moved with that shift, giving customers the choice to book online or speak to the team directly, whichever suits them better.
The business also built out its own recycling depot in Penrith, open to trade and residential customers who’d rather tip their own load than book a bin. Every load that comes through gets sorted on site, so as much material as possible gets diverted away from landfill.
Where Things Stand Today
Matt’s Skip Bins has grown well beyond that first truck and 11 bins. Today the fleet covers a full range of skip bin sizes plus hooklift bins for bigger jobs, and the team services homeowners, tradies, builders and commercial clients right across Western Sydney, from Penrith and the Blue Mountains through to Hawkesbury, Blacktown, the Hills District, Camden and Macarthur, and Liverpool.
What hasn’t changed is the reason the business exists in the first place: getting waste sorted properly, treating customers fairly, and being the kind of company people are happy to call again next time they need a bin.
What’s Next
Matt’s Skip Bins isn’t slowing down. The plan is to keep growing the team, keep the fleet up to date, and keep finding better ways to recycle and divert waste from landfill across the region.
Fifteen plus years in, the business has changed a lot since that first truck rolled out. But the goal hasn’t. Good service, fair prices and a bin that turns up when it’s supposed to.
